How to create a TXT text file on macOS

You may be asking yourself: is this article serious? Yes! Although on Windows it is a very simple process - just using Notepad, on macOS it is necessary to follow some steps to make this a reality. In practice, these types of files (".TXT") are text files with no style and formatting, for example, these same documents do not have bold, italic text, images, colors, different font types, hyperlinks, tables, lists with bookmarks, among others. They are relatively simple text documents. A TXT file can be created, opened and edited on a Mac operating system with a text editor. The most practical and advisable is the TextEdit, included free of charge and pre-installed in the macOS. Check out how to perform this simple procedure in this practical tutorial!

Let's start with the steps to be followed… 🙂

Step 1: Open the application TextEdit on your Mac (Launchpad -> TextEdit or use the Spotlight, press the command space bar to search, find and open the TextEdit). In practice, TextEdit is a text editing and word processing tool that comes with your Mac .;

Step 2: In the "Format" tab, select "Create plain text or Format" - or if you use it in English, as shown in the image above. It is important to note that if you change a file .RTF (rich text) to file .TXT (plain text), your document will lose all formatting options (such as images, etc.);

Step 3: Create and edit your text file as you wish;

Step 4: And, in sequence, go to "File" -> Save, so that you can save your text file;

Step 5: Choose a location to save and you're done! Procedure completed! 😛

As you can see in the 5 steps above, it is quite simple but it is not done by default in the system as is the case with Windows. Whenever you need, you can follow these guidelines to make your document a TXT or vice versa, if you want to convert a file in TXT to RTF, for example.
